What WebToolsPanel records when you use a tool, and what it never keeps.

WebToolsPanel is a collection of free online tools. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to the data you send when you use one of them.

The short version: what you type is processed and not kept. A file you upload sits in a temporary folder for a few minutes, and that folder is reachable over the web. What we do keep, for every run, is a usage record containing your IP address and country.

How the tools handle your input

Every tool on this site runs on the server, not in your browser. When you paste text into a converter or upload a picture to an image tool, that content is transmitted to us so it can be processed and the result returned to you.

Uploaded files are written to a temporary folder on the server under a randomly generated name. Be aware of one consequence of how the tools work: to show you a preview of the result, that folder is reachable over the web, so while your file is there anyone who knows its exact address can retrieve it. The folder cannot be browsed, and we never publish, link or index those addresses. The upload stops being valid five minutes after it begins and is then removed. We do not open, read or analyse what you send, and we do not keep it to study it.

Text you type into a converter, calculator or formatter is held only in memory for the duration of the request. It is not written to our database.

The maximum accepted file size is 5 MB.

What we record, and why

  • Tool usage — Each time a tool runs, we store the name of the tool, your IP address, the country that IP resolves to, and the date and time. This is used to see which tools are worth maintaining and to identify abuse. The country is derived locally from a MaxMind GeoLite2 database held on our own server — your IP address is not sent to MaxMind or to any other service for this.
  • Contact form — If you write to us, we receive the name, e-mail address and message you enter. We use them to answer you, and for nothing else.
  • Broken tool reports — The report form sends us only the address of the page you are reporting. It asks for nothing about you.
  • Optional account — An account is not required to use any tool on this site. If you create one, we store your e-mail address and an encrypted password, plus any profile details you choose to add.

Cookies

  • A session cookie, needed for the site to function and for forms to work.
  • A cookie that remembers you dismissed the cookie notice, so it is not shown on every page.
  • A cookie that remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies are set at this time. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect.

Third parties

The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore contacts a Google server when a page opens, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. This is the only third party that receives anything about you.

We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone else.

How long things are kept

  • Uploaded files: deleted after processing; the upload is invalidated after five minutes in any case.
  • Usage records (tool, IP, country, timestamp): kept while they remain useful for maintenance and abuse detection.
  • Contact messages: kept as long as the exchange is relevant.
  • Account data: kept until you ask for the account to be deleted.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact form and say what you want; if the request concerns a usage record, include the IP address and the approximate date so we can find it.

This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes to this page

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date below changes too. There is no version of this policy that takes effect without appearing here first.
